Horse Racing Glossary - I

IBAS – Independent Betting Arbitration Service, an organisation set up to settle disputes between bookmakers and their customers.

ICSTIS – Independent Committee for the Supervision of Standards of Telephone Information Services, the independent body responsible for regulating the content and promotion of phone services charged at a premium rate.

If-cash – Instruction to use part of winnings from a bet in order to stake another selection.

If-lose – Instruction for a bet to be placed only if a previous bet loses.

If-win - Instruction for a bet to be placed only if a previous bet wins.

Immediate payout – Where a bookmaker offers payout up to a stated amount, before the official signal is given.

Inside – A reference to the main enclosure at a track.

In the frame – A horse that has either won or been placed.

Irons – Another term for stirrups.
